Senior Management Team
Reeta Roy, President and CEO
Reeta joined The MasterCard Foundation in 2008. Previously, she was Divisional Vice President of Global Citizenship and Policy at Abbott, a broad-based global health care company, and Vice President of the Abbott Fund, its corporate foundation. She also worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb for 11 years in a number of positions of increasing responsibility related to public policy, public affairs and strategic planning. Before joining the private sector, Reeta worked at the United Nations. Reeta grew up in Malaysia, has lived in China and worked in Africa, Asia and other developing countries to build philanthropic programs related to global health, education and other issues. Reeta received a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
Peggy Woo, CFO
Peggy joined the Foundation in May 2007. Previously, she was the Chief Financial Officer of a private database marketing firm. She was responsible for the finance team that supported the US expansion and the sale of the organization to a US public company. Prior to that, Peggy was the Vice President and Corporate Controller of Brookfield Homes, a home builder and land developer listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. She has a Master's degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a certified management accountant in Canada.
Krista Pawley, VP, Communications
Krista is a successful communicator with more than 15 years of experience leading in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. A passionate advocate, Krista has proven to be effective and diplomatic, guiding global cross-cultural teams through complex projects. A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Krista began her career with the Canadian International Development Agency, later taking on the role of Director of Communication in the Office of the Minister of Canadian Heritage. Upon leaving government Krista joined the private sector where she led the International Public Affairs team for Canada’s largest international bank. Krista is active on the boards of both local and international not-for-profits, with a focus on sustainable community development.
Gale Berkowitz, Director, Evaluation and Learning
Gale joined the Foundation in January 2011. Just prior, Gale was Director of Evaluation at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and held a similar position at the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation before that. During her 12+ years as a practicing evaluator, she worked primarily on health and education policies and programs, for a variety of foundations and community service organizations, as well as national, state and local governments. She has extensive teaching experience and is the writer or co-author of more than 50 publications. Gale received her bachelor’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University, and her doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley.
Deepali Khanna, Director, Youth Learning
Deepali joined The MasterCard Foundation in June 2010. She has more than 25 years of experience, 10 of which are in the international development sector. Her operational experience has largely been in the context of children and youth programming in South Asia, South East Asia and Eastern and Southern Africa. Prior to joining the Foundation, she was a member of Plan International’s senior management team. As Regional Director, her responsibilities included leading, directing and managing Plan’s operations in 12 countries in eastern and southern Africa. She is a recipient of the prestigious Medal of Friendship, which was awarded to her by the President of Vietnam for her exemplary work in Vietnam. She has a Masters degree in Development Studies and considers herself to be a seasoned social entrepreneur and innovator.
Ann Miles, Director, Microfinance
Ann is a seasoned leader in microfinance with many years of experience in financial services. She joined The MasterCard Foundation in July 2011 and brings a collaborative leadership style, strategic experience, broad perspective on microfinance and a deep network in this sector. Ann began her career in banking and spent 18 years with Citibank in the trade, financial institutions and private banking groups. During her time within the Private Bank Group at Citibank she was responsible for a large number of non-profit clients, including several microfinance organizations. From Citibank Ann was recruited to Women’s World Banking to head the financial products and services team that served microfinance institutions within the network. She joined BlueOrchard Finance in 2006 and has led the development of several microfinance investment funds, including a major fund for Latin America. Ann received her Bachelor of Arts from Drew University.
